EFCC CRACKS DOWN ON INTERNET FRAUD, ARRESTS 148 SUSPECTS IN OGUN STATE
Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has made a significant breakthrough in its fight against internet fraud, arresting 93 suspected cybercrime perpetrators in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The operation, carried out on Sunday, August 10, 2025, was a sting operation conducted at the Green Legacy Hotel within the premises of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library.
According to Dele Oyewale, the EFCC spokesperson, the arrests were made following credible intelligence about the suspects’ alleged involvement in internet crimes. During the operation, 18 vehicles and mobile devices were recovered from the suspects. The EFCC has stated that the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

This recent operation follows a similar raid conducted by the EFCC’s Ibadan Zonal Directorate at K-Hotel in Itori, Ewekoro area of Ogun State on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. During the raid, 55 suspects were apprehended, including one individual allegedly found in possession of two locally-made pistols. Six posh cars, 89 mobile phones, laptops, and several incriminating documents were also recovered.
